Silk Road Tourist Train Made Maiden Trip on June 18, 2014

On June 18, 2014, the tourist train Y2067 set off from Xi'an carrying about 600 tourists, marking the official operation of "Chang An Hao Silk Road Tourist Train".

This amazing 11-day train trip starts from Xi'an to Urumqi via Dunhuang, making stops at Turpan on the return journey. During the trip, tourists can visit major attractions along the Silk Road, such as Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Shan (Echo Sand Mountain), Crescent Moon Spring, Grape Valley, Heavenly Lake of Tianshan Mountain, Kanas Lake, etc.

The distance between each city along the Silk Road is very far. For tourists, the major way of traveling between them is by flight; however, the cost is expensive. The opening of "Chang An Hao Silk Road Tourist Train" makes the Silk Road tour much easier and cheaper.

About the Silk Road Tourist Train

The train has 14 passenger carriages: 10 hard sleeper carriages with 60-66 beds and 4 soft sleeper carriages with 36 beds, which can accommodate a total of 800 passengers.

It is also tourist-friendly - at each train stop, passengers will travel by an air-conditioned coach to visit attractions. The train will not leave the station until all passengers are back on the train.

The cost for the 11-day train trip ranges from CNY1680 to CNY3000 (USD 270-560) per person, which includes accommodation and dining on the train, admission tickets for major attractions, insurance, etc. Meanwhile, there are 26 staffers on the train including a tour leader and a doctor. 

The present tourist train is supposed to make 2 trips every month along Silk Road and has no fixed departure date and point in 2014. From August this year, the "New Oriental Silk Road Luxury Express" will be put into the run, which will travel from Beijing to Urumqi, with stops in Xi'an, Tianshui, Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, and Turpan.
