China's First Airport Museum Opens in Pudong Int'l Airport
Being the first-ever museum within an airport in China, the Museum of Pudong Airport opened on June 4th, 2014, offering one more choice for people who wait for planes at Shanghai Pudong International Airport other than duty-free shops and cafés. The exhibition will change periodically and admission is free.
The debut exhibition currently on is the East Wind Blowing Westwards themed with European Porcelain. Through 53 pieces of European porcelain items from the 18th to 20th century, people can get a clear insight into the porcelain trade between China and Europe and how European porcelain borrowed from Chinese porcelain and evolved into its own style back in history. Items are provided by Shanghai History Museum and displayed for the next 6 months.
The museum is located at Departure Gate D 90 in Terminal 2. Covering an area of 100 square meters, the exhibition hall is semi-open-ended with great lighting and vibe. The spacious passageway is also friendly with a luggage cart.
