China Odyssey Tours Invited to Visit Fujian Tulou

A couple of weeks ago, it was invited by Longyan Tourism Bureau visited the Tulou earthen fortress in Yongding in Fujian Province. Two travel specialists, Will and Travis, were sent to the county to visit the Tulou earthen buildings, experience the culture and hospitality of the Hakka people, and inspect the tourist facilities.

Tulou is a kind of traditional earthen fortress constructed between the 15th and 20th centuries by the ancient Hakkas. This kind of dwelling house can be round and square. In Yongding County, there are a total of 369 roundhouses and 4,000 square houses. The unique structure and size of the buildings inhabited by the Hakka people, a special way of life, and distinctive Hakka culture made this place precious to China. Perhaps Yongding Tulou wouldn’t be at the top of many people’s lists as a place to take a holiday. However, we have plenty of reasons to believe, it will soon be a hotspot. Apart from the characterful Tulou dwelling houses and lodges, the famous Guanzhai Mountain is another lure for travelers to Yongding. Located in Liancheng County, near to Yongding County, the Guanzhai Mountain is renowned for its majestic scenery and unique Danxia landscape.

It’s also worth noting that back in 2008 Yongding Tulou was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In addition, a new highway has been built to boost the Fujian Tulou tour.
