Forbidden City to Close on Mondays from 1st Jan 2014

Announce on 18th November, Beijing's Forbidden City will be closed every Monday from 1st January 2014 except for Chinese public holidays and school summer break (1st July to 31st August).

The management of the Forbidden City Museum responded that the Forbidden City has been closed at noon on Mondays since January 2013 in order to perform routine inspections and maintenance of the ancient buildings and cultural relics. After this measure undergoing for a year, it has been proven effective positively and has accordingly improved the quality of visiting. Thanks to the understanding of the public, this protective measure will be extended to a full day of Mondays in 2014.
